Eyo fellow creatures!
This month sure has been a crazy one for my brother and I! Between work on the game and work on the website, we haven’t had time for much else.
Those who have been popping by to check on the website may have noticed that things keep getting changed around.
You may have also noticed the absence of the community pages I was setting up over the past few weeks.
Unfortunately we ran into a critical issue after I finished putting all of that together: bots!
Yes, that’s right, those wonderful pesky spam bots that buzz around the internet bringing destruction and annoyance wherever they go!
When I created the community pages, I basically opened the flood gates to these lovely entities and our email was quickly filled with alerts from our spam prevention plugins. Being that I’m a complete noob when it comes to web design, I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to stop the bots from invading our site.
Thats when I had this awesome idea. One that could solve this pesky bot issue once and for all: Discord!
Figuring this to be a better alternative to building a community than me trying to fight off bots for an eternity, I set to work and created the Official Ettinsoft Discord!
I’m currently in the process of trying to integrate it into the website as well, adding a few invite links on the front page as well as a widget for the side and footer widgets.
Not only will the Discord be a great place for you all to mingle and play games together, but we also plan on hosting fun events where people can compete and have a direct effect on the games we create!
We will also be trying to get a public test of our current game going on the Discord that way people can do beta testing, though we still need to do our research on that.
Keep in mind, this is the first time my brother or I have created a Discord community channel.
We’re doing our research and working hard on making it as epic as we can, but please bear with us through the growing pains, and feel free to drop some knowledge on us if you feel something is wrong, we’d really appreciate it! 🙂
As for the website, I believe I am finally at a point where I can be satisfied with it, however It’ll probably get a big facelift somewhere down the road when I can get an actual professional to build the site. So be on the look out for that. (lol)
